Scott Wedgewood 11-12 ITG BTP Auto

So the future between the pipes in NJ is not something I have spent much of the last two decades thinking about to be honest with you. Devils have been blessed with Marty and I have seen many back-ups come and go and really thinking about them as any more than a second goalie for practices would have been a waste of time. Not that any of those back-ups weren't capable goalies, it is just there was never much "pie" left over after Marty took his lion's share.

However, all good things come to an end and the Devils have been stockpiling goalies through the draft the last few years and we now have a number of decent kids who can possibly embark on HOF careers once Marty is done with his turn between the pipes.

Another sticker auto, but black sharpie and numbered are always nice pluses and the design is pretty decent as well.

Now that we are back....Let the Luongo talk continue!

I must admit, even though I am happy to have hockey back, I certainly didn't miss the pro-Toronto media we have here in Canada. It couldn't have been 12 hours since the announcement and Bobby-Lu talk had begun again. Don't get me wrong, I love trade talk and if a trade was eminent great, but Toronto trade talks seem to take weeks, months or never happen so I do find it a little annoying at times...

Anyway, here is a fun card about Bobby-Lu. I got this little gem from one of my fav online guys who I will post about later! I went after it because of Scott Wedgewood, but I love the card because of the Luongo seam piece. What is fun is the card has a Luongo Team Canada swatch! Of course, I don't know what competition Roberto wore this jersey in, but I could pretend it was from the 2010 Olympics :)

Thomas McCollum Auto

I wanted to get my second half of my Drop The Gloves! trade posted, but getting the cards scanned without a scanner means it takes more time than I have at the moment, so I thought I would share something in between the two posts. A local dealer on eBay had a few items that interested me so I contacted them and made a bundle! Here is a fun card that I normally wouldn't have bought on its own because I don't know a lot about him, but in the bundle it was a deal I couldn't pass up!

11-12 Between the Pipes Thomas McCollum Auto
This former first round pick of the Red Wings has had a little trouble finding a spot on the big club's roster, but then again Detroit likes to take their time with their goalies so that part isn't too troubling for McCollum fans.His AHL numbers are pretty solid and this season he is 7-4-1 with a 2.55 G.A.A and a .907 save pct.
He is splitting that time with Petr Mrazek which is why he hasn't appeared in as many games as other goalies, but still decent numbers for this 2008 draft pick.

This card is by no means the gem of the lot, but just a fun card I thought I would share. I actually have quite a few fun posts on the way including the last two mystery boxes from my LCS (yeah I found more) and lots of fun pick-ups and PC additions!

Dan Bouchard Auto - Everyone who likes hockey should own one!

Dan Bouchard in my opinion has one of the most enjoyable signatures out there of any pro athlete. He doesn't sign every card the same way too which is even better! Here is an example from the BTP release last season.

He begins with a bible passage from the book of Psalm and adds a nice little smiley face in his D and the script of the signature itself is clear and crisp. I have seen him use other quotes and almost had another signature from a different release, but the bidding got far too high for my taste.

Dan was a pretty solid goalie for the better part of the 70's and early 80's. In his career of 14 NHL seasons, Dan won 286 games and posted 27 shutouts which was pretty good for a period of time in which scoring was definitely up in the NHL. His 286 wins are good enough for 32nd on the all-time list and are more than HOF'ers like Bernie Parent, Gary Cheevers and Johnny Bower.

I think just about any hockey collector can appreciate both the skill he had on the ice and the effort that he appears to throw into his signatures and to me, this is a must own. This auto set me back around 6 dollars with shipping on eBay, but it was totally worth it!

For those interested, here is the passage Dan references, sure it isn't what Julius from Pulp Fiction, but it is still pretty cool:

O Lord, You have searched me and known me.
You know my sitting down and my rising up;
You understand my thought afar off.
You comprehend my path and my lying down,
And are acquainted with all my ways.

For there is not a word on my tongue,
But behold, O Lord, You know it altogether.
You have hedged me behind and before,
And laid Your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
It is high, I cannot attain it.

Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
If I ascend into heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.
If I take the wings of the morning,
And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,

Even there Your hand shall lead me,
And Your right hand shall hold me.
If I say, “Surely the darkness shall fall on me,”
Even the night shall be light about me;
Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You,
But the night shines as the day;
The darkness and the light are both alike to You.

For You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother’s womb.
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.
My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
And in Your book they all were written,
The days fashioned for me,
When as yet there were none of them.
How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How great is the sum of them!
If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand;
When I awake, I am still with You.

Oh, that You would slay the wicked, O God!
Depart from me, therefore, you bloodthirsty men.
For they speak against You wickedly;
Your enemies take Your name in vain.
Do I not hate them, O Lord, who hate You?
And do I not loathe those who rise up against You?
I hate them with perfect hatred;
I count them my enemies.

Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me, and know my anxieties;
And see if there is any wicked way in me,
And lead me in the way everlasting.
